Why We Matter

Day facilities and activity centers

Our primary objective is focused on the expressive needs and desires of individuals who are differently- abled, for whom opportunities to freely express themselves outside the home are too often limited.  Whereas it is their opportunities that are often limited more so than their abilities, we believe that by facilitating opportunity in a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment, we can encourage and foster basic expressive needs inherent to the human condition, irrespective of perceived limitations.

Our program sessions take place at local day facilities and activity centers serving individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.  We work closely with facility staff in order to help best promote the expressive needs and desires of those individuals they know and care for.  We provide user-friendly musical instruments and equipment, along with instruction and encouragement, to help create an atmosphere of inclusion and cooperation, where individuals can feel free to express themselves in a positive, non-judgmental setting.  

Integrative community events

These events provide expressive opportunities outside the day centers.  Programming principles remain the same, with the added benefits of performing before an integrated audience of family, friends, workers and other members of our community in a social setting,  providing shared experiences that lead to greater mutual understanding, acceptance and normalization.

​Special events and fundraisers

Our model of operation depends entirely on the generosity of our supporters.  Being that the centers we serve do not have it within their budgets to financially support what we do, our services are provided to them at no charge.  We depend on those contributors who see and understand the value of what we do.  Special events and fundraisers are not only additional opportunities to showcase individual abilities, but work also to increase public awareness of our programs and what they mean to those we serve.
